A new 8-speed transmission delivers faster, smoother gear changes, and accounts for 6% of the total 40% efficiency gain achieved by the new V8. Its greater number of ratios ensures that the engine is always working at its most efficient gearing. 

 The knife-edge creases that run along the front panels of the Continental GT are shaped using a technique called superforming, where 5083 grade aluminium is heated to 500ºC and shaped around a die using air pressure. No other process enables such a complex panel to be created with such crisp sharp lines and without seams or joints.

 It’s been said that “with great power comes great responsibility.” Bentley’s new Continental GT V8 proves the concept. It can jet from a standstill to 60 miles an hour in just 4.7 seconds, yet it is 40 percent more efficient than its predecessor overall.

 Bentley tradition has not been forgotten in this update. The V8’s upholstery hides begin with an age-old tanning process that retains the rich, natural aroma of classic Bentley interiors. They are shaped, stitched and worked around the complex multiple curves of seats and armrests, creating a cocoon of curved yet crisply-defined planes and surfaces.
